Support Your Environment
At Naya we are committed to creating non-toxic products that not only transform your skin but also consider the health of the environment. With this in mind, our packaging matters to us. We thought this wasn’t enough though and we have recently gained recognition from the Beat the Microbead campaign making a pledge that we never have and never will use plastic in our products. We are now proud to display the ‘Zero Plastic Inside’ logo on our website and on our packaging.
We use glass bottles for all our products to optimize the freshness and potency of our ingredients and also because they are the best choice when considering the environment! In fact, plastic is a substance that the planet and all species cannot digest. When our Founder Sarah was in Indonesia last year, she was blown away by the amount of plastic on the roads and that it literally had to be collected and moved to a different island. Recently, we learned from the Plastic Oceans Project that more than 8 million tons of plastic are dumped in our oceans every day. We, the human being have developed a ‘disposable lifestyle’, and we at Naya do not intend to be part of this. Imagine a world where water is infused with plastic! The United Nations Joint Group of Experts on the Scientific Aspects of Marine Pollution (GESAMP), estimated that land-based sources account for up to 80 percent of the world’s marine pollution, 60 to 95 percent of the waste being plastics debris (1). Not cool! According to the UN, without change, there will be more plastic than fish in the world’s oceans by 2050. Unless people stop using single-use plastic items such as plastic bags and plastic bottles, according to figures cited by the United Nations.(2) With this in mind, on Earth Day (and every day) we urge you all to refuse single use plastic.
“The impossible missions are the only ones which succeed.” —Commandant Jacques-Yves Cousteau.
We will continue to do our part with the use of glass and other biodegradable / recyclable material for all of our products. Glass is 100% recyclable and can be recycled without loss in quality or purity. Whereas plastic actually leaks out harmful chemicals such as BPA into the products held inside. The 2003-2004 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES III) conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) found detectable levels of BPA in 93% of 2517 urine samples from people six years and older. “The abysmal depth and extent of the task before us ought to be never as inexhaustible and boundless as our dedication and compelling strive to greater changes.”
Help us achieve to eliminate single-use plastic consumption from your daily life!
What ways do you recycle and help the environment?
